SMaRT Workspace Analytics
We provide a turnkey workspace analytics service, including sensors and bespoke dashboards. Unlocking data and insight to inform system design and technology.
Prior to this we conduct a thorough workplace study. The findings of which inform and guide the design stage, ultimately leading to a more effective and user-centric workspace. Our workplace studies follow a series of steps and are tailored to the individual requirements of every client:
Define the Objectives: Identify all the aspects to be investigated, such as employee productivity, comfort, collaboration and energy usage patterns.
Identify Key Stakeholders: From employees to facility managers, HR personnel and executives, engaging with them to ensure their support and involvement.
Plan the Study Design: Select the appropriate study according to objectives, determining the sample size and selection criteria for participants.
Develop Research Instruments: Create the necessary research instruments, such as questionnaires, interview guides or observation protocols. Ensuring that the instruments are aligned with the study objectives and designed to collect relevant data.
Obtain Ethical Approval: We seek ethical approval as appropriate, ensure that participant privacy and confidentiality are protected and obtain informed consent from participants.
Conduct Data Collection: Implement the selected research instruments which may involve distributing surveys, conducting interviews, making observations or facilitating focus groups, and ensure the data collection process is systematic and consistent.
Data Analysis: We analyse the data with qualitative and/or quantitative methods, using software tools or statistical packages as needed.
Interpret the Findings: We interpret study findings in relation to research objectives. Identifying patterns, trends or correlations in the data before drawing conclusions based on the analysis.
Prepare the Study Report: We document the findings in a comprehensive report comprising an introduction, methodology, results, discussion and recommendations. Clearly communicating the implications of the findings for the SMaRT building design.
Communicate and Implement Recommendations: We share the study findings and recommendations with the relevant stakeholders, such as architects, engineers and project managers. And we collaborate to integrate study outcomes into the design process, to ensure recommendations are effectively implemented.
SMaRT Design
Great SMaRT Building design brings everything together. Integrating building automation systems, connected devices and sensors, energy management strategies, intelligent lighting, indoor environmental quality optimisation, data analytics and future-readiness. Resulting in an optimised and intelligent building environment that is efficient, comfortable and sustainable.
Key aspects of our design service include:
Building Automation Systems: BAS are the backbone of a SMaRT Building, integrating systems such as HVAC, lighting, security and energy management into a centralised platform. The BAS uses sensors, meters and controls to monitor and optimise building operations, providing real-time data for analysis and decision-making.
Connected Devices and Sensors: Data capture on such metrics as building performance, occupant behaviour and resource usage is done via smart thermostats, occupancy sensors, lighting controls and other IoT-enabled devices. The resulting data is used to optimise building operations, reduce energy consumption and improve occupants’ comfort.
Energy Management: SMaRT Building design incorporates energy management strategies to reduce consumption and costs. This may involve the use of renewable energy sources, energy-efficient building materials and optimised building systems. An EMS (energy management system) uses data from building sensors and devices to monitor energy usage and make adjustments to optimise efficiency.
Intelligent Lighting: A critical component of any SMaRT Building, intelligent systems optimise usage and occupants’ comfort, adjusting levels according to occupancy and daylight levels. Providing optimal lighting conditions whilst minimising energy waste.
Indoor Environmental Quality: SMaRT Building design prioritises health and wellbeing by promoting indoor environmental quality. This involves optimising air quality, temperature, humidity and lighting for a comfortable and healthy indoor environment.
Data Analytics: We ensure the integration of data analytics to monitor building performance, identify patterns to enable informed decision-making. This can involve collecting and analysing data from sensors, devices and building systems to optimise operations and improve efficiency.
Future-Readiness: We consider emerging technologies and trends to ensure a building is adaptable and future-ready with a flexible infrastructure that can accommodate new innovations and upgrades.
SMaRT Project Management
This part of the journey can be challenging to navigate. We use our extensive project experience to create a painless path through the numerous elements that make up the delivery of SMaRT for ongoing optimisation.
We offer insights, strategies, and recommendations to optimise processes, resources, and outcomes using SMaRT solutions and data-driven approaches. And we analyse and advise on how to enhance efficiency and performance in various systems through the integration of advanced technologies.
